Empower. Engage. Enact.
We aim to empower youth, engage them in advancing nuclear disarmament, and provide them with the knowledge, tools, and platform to enact change.

Justin Lamoureux
Justin Lamoureux was the videographer for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 Youth Nuclear Peace Summits. His work has helped the Summit reach people well beyond the room (you can find the videos on our YouTube).
A Winnipeg-based educator and entrepreneur, Justin is also the president of the Manitoba Blacksmith Guild and host of Fire & Slice. To see more of his work, check out rainydayforge.ca or his YouTube channel.
We are super grateful for Justin's talent and dedication to the Summit.
Glen Brouwer
Glen Brouwer helped shape the Youth Nuclear Peace Summit from the very start by creating the original website.
Glen worked in education for many years, serving as a Principal with the Sunrise School Division Adult Learning Centres Program (1995–2020), as well as a science teacher, bioscience coordinator, academic director, and instructor. He also volunteered with several peace and education groups, including the SGI Canada Educators Group, the Rotary Winnipeg Peace Builders Committee, and the International Indigenous RPL Collective in Canada and Chile.
Glen collaborated with principals and teachers across Manitoba to bring educational exhibitions into schools in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. One exhibition, Everything You Treasure: For a World Free From Nuclear Weapons, had a lasting impact on students. Glen saw how students were moved to take action after experiencing these exhibits.
We are grateful for Glen's leadership, creativity, and commitment to making the Youth Nuclear Peace Summit the success it is today.
How It All Started…
In early 2017, three friends sat down to talk about the state of the world. With tensions escalating between the United States and North Korea, the nuclear threat felt closer and more real than it had in decades.
Rather than feel helpless, they decided to act. Each of them shared a deep belief in the power of young people to drive change, and so they asked a simple question: what if we brought youth together to engage with this issue on their own terms?
It took two years of planning, relationship-building, and quiet determination. In October 2019, the first Youth Nuclear Peace Summit took place. The response from students, teachers, and supporters exceeded every expectation.
Now in its sixth year, the summit continues to grow and the urgency that inspired it has never been greater.
Where We’ve Gone Together.
Some highlights include:
Empowering students who have participated in globally-recognized events, such as the First, Second, and Third Meeting of States Parties to the TPNW in Vienna & New York, the ICAN Nuclear Ban Forum in Vienna, the G7 Youth Summit in Hiroshima, and most recently, the Youth-Parliament Summit in Ottawa (2023 and 2025).
Cultivating leaders who have been accepted into programs like the Hiroshima-ICAN Academy on Nuclear Weapons and Global Security.
Achieving recognition such as youth nominations for the Arms Control Association's Arms Control Person(s) of the Year Awards (2021).
Facilitating the creation of a Youth Nuclear Peace Treaty in 2019, drafted and signed by students.
Inspiring students to lead their own Nuclear Ban Week in their high schools.
As a participant, you'll be joining a network of youth leaders and peace-builders, and who knows? Your accomplishments could be our next highlight.
You can help shape the 2026 Summit. Here’s how…
Planning is already underway and we'd love to have you at the table. Whether you’ve attended a past summit or you're new to YNPS, if you're passionate about nuclear disarmament, there could be a place for you.
