The Summit ran two programs at once. Students spent their time in “learning villages” moving between keynotes, workshops and the treaty drafting process. Teachers ran a parallel professional program with international specialists in disarmament education, international law and peace literacy.

Everything You Treasure Exhibit — Ryan Brouwer
The exhibition “Everything You Treasure—For a World Free From Nuclear Weapons” was jointly created by SGI and the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN). Launched in Hiroshima in August 2012 at the 20th World Congress of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), the exhibition commemorates the 55th anniversary of second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda’s September 8, 1957 Declaration Calling for the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons.

Nuclear Peace through Art — Shawn Kettner
Students took part in a group activity called Nuclear Peace through Art, led by Shawn Kettner in the MTS Classrooms. Shawn is a puppet maker and educator who designed and owned Patient Puppets - medical puppets made for children in hospitals. She also coordinated Many Voices, One World and has worked on social justice projects in schools. Students took these banners back to their schools following the summit.
Peace Through Music — John Anderson
Students took part in a session called Peace Through Music, led by John Anderson, a local musician, theatre artist, and educator. Through music, students explored ideas about peace and working together.
